How to join flutes & Co

We welcome new flute playing members of a wide range of abilities. 

Our main group includes under-18s and adult members of all ages from all over Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire.  We ask members to be of grade 3+ standard or similar. Parts are matched to members' abilities and more able members rotate between concerts to support the lower parts. Members also take turns to play the altos, basses, contrabass and piccolos. If you have your own mini or large flute, please bring them along, but the group own two piccolos, four altos, three basses and a contrabass which you are welcome to play and practice at home. Subscriptions are paid termly and are £31 per term for under-18s and £39 per term for adults. 

Our Inspire programme is for new players of any age happiest to play simplified parts. Inspire members are included in the full orchestra for rehearsals at least once every half term and play in our Summer and Christmas concerts. The subscription is £10 per term.
